Oatmeal is an excellent option for breakfast, as it is considered one of the healthiest grains on earth.

As I show you in the image above, a cup of cooked oatmeal is full of vitamins and minerals our body needs to stay in optimum condition. Also it helps us maintain a healthy heart, control blood sugar levels, alleviate constipation, reduces the risk of cancer… and many other benefits.

For these reason I include oats in my food in different ways. Today I am sharing one of favorite breakfasts. Apple and Cinnamon Oatmeal!

Ingredients:
(4-5 servings)

  • 1 cup of oats
  • 1 apple cut in small pieces
  • 3 cups of almond milk
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 3 tablespoons of chia seeds
  • Your favorite fruits as toppings

Instructions:

  • In a medium sauce pan combine the oats, apple, almond milk, cinnamon and vanilla.
  • When it starts boiling, reduce to low heat and let simmer for about 15 minutes or until oats are fully cooked.
  • Turn off the stove and add the chia seeds. Let rest for 5 minutes.
  • Serve with your favorite fruits and you can add honey or maple syrup.
