Being a mom is no easy job and often we forget to take care of ourselves. Mom’s time should be just as important as anything else in our schedule.
I used to think that taking time for me was selfish. I felt as if I was taking valuable time from my family. What I didn’t understand was that taking a moment to reconnect with myself and feed my soul was probably the most important thing.
“Me time” has become a priority in my long to-do list. Focusing on things that bring me joy has made me a better person, mother and wife. It energizes my body, my mind and my soul. Better yet, it shows and brings vitality to our family life.
I urge you to find a time for yourself on a daily basis, it doesn’t matter if it’s five minutes or an hour. Make sure to:
- Find a time of the day that works best for you and add it to your schedule.
- Find an activity that fills your heart with joy.
- Let everyone know it is your time and they must not interrupt.
Here are some “me time” ideas for you to consider.
- Mediation
- Stretching
- Praying
- Reading a book
- Taking a relaxing shower
- Yoga
- Working out
- Writing in your dairy
- Taking a walk
- Visiting your local coffee shop
The ideas above you can do every day, but if one day you have more time get out and…
- Get a mani and/or pedi
- Get a massage
- Go to the salon
- Go shopping for yourself
- Have lunch at your favorite eatery
- Meet up your girlfriends for drinks
I personally take an hour, regularly in the afternoon, to work out and take a relaxing shower. During that time, my husband or mom take over for me and usually I get no interruptions. Once in a while I like to get a manicure or go out with my girlfriends. But whatever it is I decide to do for the day, my secret is to plan ahead and put it on my schedule.
Have fun mamas and enjoy your “me time” that you deserve it!
