Being a mom is no easy job and often we forget to take care of ourselves. Mom’s time should be just as important as anything else in our schedule.

I used to think that taking time for me was selfish. I felt as if I was taking valuable time from my family. What I didn’t understand was that taking a moment to reconnect with myself and feed my soul was probably the most important thing.

“Me time” has become a priority in my long to-do list. Focusing on things that bring me joy has made me a better person, mother and wife. It energizes my body, my mind and my soul. Better yet, it shows and brings vitality to our family life.

I urge you to find a time for yourself on a daily basis, it doesn’t matter if it’s five minutes or an hour. Make sure to:

  1. Find a time of the day that works best for you and add it to your schedule.
  2. Find an activity that fills your heart with joy.
  3. Let everyone know it is your time and they must not interrupt.

Here are some “me time” ideas for you to consider.

  • Mediation
  • Stretching
  • Praying
  • Reading a book
  • Taking a relaxing shower
  • Yoga
  • Working out
  • Writing in your dairy
  • Taking a walk
  • Visiting your local coffee shop

The ideas above you can do every day, but if one day you have more time get out and…

  • Get a mani and/or pedi
  • Get a massage
  • Go to the salon
  • Go shopping for yourself
  • Have lunch at your favorite eatery
  • Meet up your girlfriends for drinks

I personally take an hour, regularly in the afternoon, to work out and take a relaxing shower. During that time, my husband or mom take over for me and usually I get no interruptions. Once in a while I like to get a manicure or go out with my girlfriends. But whatever it is I decide to do for the day, my secret is to plan ahead and put it on my schedule.

Have fun mamas and enjoy your “me time” that you deserve it!
